Soweto Sightseeing Tour

It was here in Soweto, where students stood up in 1976 to revolt against the apartheid regime.

On this sightseeing tour we`ll take you to Soweto's most imporatant historical scenes. Visit the places where the history of the new South Africa was written.

This Soweto sightseeing tour is started as we drive past the largest hospital in the world, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. On the other side you can see the townships biggest taxi rank, market stalls, offering from fresh fruits and vegetables to “muti” African traditional medicine.

Kliptown

This is where the dream for freedom was voiced, when the South Africans gathered for the congress of the People. On the 26 of June 1955 the Freedom Charter was adopted, and a vision for a free, non-racial, non-sexist South Africa was set.

Soweto

Soweto is home to more than 3,5 million people. Making it South Africa's most largest and vibrant township.

Soweto is known for the part it played in the liberation struggle. It was here in 1976, where students stood up to revolt against the apartheid regime. The countries first Nobel Peace Prize winner Chief Albert Lithuli lived in Soweto.
Then there is the famous Vilikazi street, the only one in the world to have hosted two Nobel Peace Prize winners; Former President Nelson Mandela and Arc Bishop Desmond Tutu.
